Since 1976 the National Beep Baseball Association has been facilitating and providing the adaptive version of America's favorite pastime for the blind and partially-sighted. In 2015, Canada sent its first team to the World Series in Rochester, New York and finished 18th overall. After taking one season off and not entering the 2016 World Series in Ames, Iowa, in 2017 Canada is back with the newly formed Toronto Blind Jays.
The team is comprised of athletes who are blind and partially sighted with 10% vision or less. All players wear eye shades to even the playing field and utilize their hearing to track a beep ball, batting or in the field, while also running to a buzzing base.
The 2017 NBBA Beep Baseball World Series will be held in West Palm Beach, Florida from Sunday, July 23 through Sunday, July 30, 2017. Games begin on Tuesday, July 25, 2017.
